VMware Fusion 2.0.6 build 196839

VMware heeft een update uitgebracht van Fusion, het programma waarmee virtuele machines kunnen worden aangemaakt op een met een Intel processor uitgeruste Mac OS X-machine. Op die manier is het mogelijk om bijvoorbeeld Windows, Linux of Solaris naast het bestaande besturingssysteem te draaien.In versie 2.0.6 build 196839 zijn diverse problemen verholpen met het draaien van Fusion onder Snow Leopard, versie 10.6 van Mac OS X. Verder is de 3D-performance van nVidia-videokaarten verbeterd en zijn er de nodige bugs verholpen. Het volledige changelog van deze release ziet er als volgt uit:

        * Provides improved 3D performance on Macs with NVIDIA graphics cards running Mac OS X 10.6
        * Contains fixes for more than 20 bugs

    Resolved Issues

        * Kernel denial of service vulnerability An integer overflow vulnerability in the vmx86 kernel extension allows for a denial of service by an unprivileged user.
          The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the name CVE-2009-3282 to this issue.
        * Kernel code execution vulnerability
          An ioctl vulnerability in the vmx86 kernel extension allows for executing arbitrary code in the kernel context by an unprivileged user.

        * VMware Fusion displays licensing error despite valid license after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6
          After upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6, VMware Fusion might display the following error message:
          This copy of VMware Fusion is not yet licensed
        * Driverless printing does not work correctly in Mac OS X 10.6
          After upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6, the driverless printing software that VMware Fusion uses might print unintelligible output.
        * File icons are displayed incorrectly on Mac OS X 10.6
          On Mac OS X 10.6 host operating systems, the icons for files that open in a Windows application might be displayed incorrectly.
